Guided tour of town districts Sun 19 April, 2–4 pm

Guided tour taking in the different town districts. Tour departs from the bus station. 

Guided nature tour in Kasarminlahti

Wed, June 3, at 6-8 pm.
Departure from Sorvakkos sports field, Etelälinjakatu 2.

Guided tour of Myllymäki windmill hill

Wed 10 June at 6 pm and Sat 15 August at 3 pm. 
Get to know the historic Myllymäki park, its flowers and buildings. Departs from the stairs to the hill at Vuorikatu 1. Duration 1 hour. 


Guided Tour of Kalanti Cemetery

Fri 26 June at 3 pm and Wed 12 August at 6 pm.
During the tour, we will visit the graves and memorials of individuals who influenced local life and history in various ways, and hear about their life stories. The tour starts in front of Kalanti Church, Pyhän Olavin tie 6, Kalanti.

Guided walking tour of the Seven Great Fires of Uusikaupunki 

Wed 1 July at 2 pm. 
The Seven Great Fires tour takes you on a journey through time from 1685 to 1855. The walking tour is approximately 1.5 km long, and you will see the spots where the fires started and hear stories about the fires. The tour departs from the market square. 
 

The Sailor’s Wife – A Theatrical Guided Tour

Wed 8 July at 2 pm. An immersive tour in the company of Elli Sjövall. Hear Elli’s stories about what life was like in the late 19th century as a sailor’s wife and mother in Uusikaupunki. The tour starts in front of Hotel Aittaranta, Aittaranta 2.
 

Guided walking tour with costumed character guide Sanni Winter 

Wed 22 July at 2 pm. 
Experience the town as it was between 1859 and 1936 as told by influential townswoman Sanni Winter. 
Departure from the Pakkahuone Guest harbour.
 

In the Footsteps of Crusell – Walking Tour


Wed 15 July at 2 pm and Wed 29 July at 11 am
Fri 31 July at 11 am – guided tour in English.
What was Uusikaupunki like in the late 18th century during the time of composer B. H. Crusell, and how is Crusell’s legacy visible in present-day Uusikaupunki? The tour starts at the Peace Memorial in the Market Square. During Crusell Week (29 and 31 July), the tour concludes at the Market Square with the event “Päivän Puhallus.”

 

Guided Tour in local dialect  
 

Wed 5 August at 6 pm.
On this guided walking tour, you can expand your knowledge of Uusikaupunki while also enriching your local dialect vocabulary. 
The tour starts from the Pakkahuone Guest Harbour.

 

Shadows of Uusikaupunki – Stories of Life and Death

Fri 7 August at 8 pm
Fri 16 October, Sat 17 October and Sat 24 October at 7 pm
Sat 31 October at 6 pm
On this ghost tour, you’ll hear stories of the city’s tragic fates and mysterious moments—tales that haven’t always made it into the history books. Departure: Alinenkatu 41, Vallilanmäki.

 

The Road to the Treaty of Nystad guided tours 

Sat 29 August at 1 pm.
Tour starts at Pakkahuone guest harbour and ends in Rauhanpuisto, Alinenkatu 34.  A little walking tour to where big things took place. The market square and the Peace Memorial are well known places, but where did the negotiators live? Where did they have their offices? During these tours, you learn about the Treaty of Nystad as well as the events that took place here and elsewhere in Finland during the Great Northern War. 
 

In the Company of Manta – A Theatrical Tour into the Sauna Tradition
 

Sat 5 September at 6 pm
Discover the sauna tradition of Uusikaupunki under the guidance of Manta the washerwoman. We’ll reminisce about old public saunas, their bathers, and traditional sauna customs of the past. The tour starts and ends at the Pietola sports field parking area, Viikaistenkatu 11 B.

 

“Stories by the Bay” guided walking tour

Wed 14 October at 6 pm.  
Departs from the Sorvakko side of the bay, in front of Hotel Aittaranta, Aittaranta 2. The “Stories by the Bay” guided tour delves into the history of notable men in Uusikaupunki. You will learn about the town, its past and its present. Along the way, you will also hear stories about sailing ships.
