Music

  • Mon 27 April, 5–7 PM: Evening of Finnish Songs at Crusell Cultural Centre (Kullervontie 11). This communal sing-along event, held in honor of National Veterans’ Day, features traditional Finnish songs led by Pekka Harmovaara and accompanied by Petri Hatakka. The event celebrates Finland’s musical heritage and the culture defended by war veterans. Free entry, with coffee served during the intermission.
  • Tue 28 April, 1:45 PM: Sing-along at Sakunkulma (Zachariasseninkatu 1), accompanied by Lauri Seutu, Matti Nurminen, and Jari Vainio.
  • Tue 28 April, 5:45 PM: Music moment at Kalanti Library (Pankkitie 2). Brass duo Tuba Mondo performs entertaining tunes.
  • Wed 29 April, 5:30 PM: Music moment at Uusikaupunki Library (Alinenkatu 34). Brass duo Tuba Mondo performs.
  • Wed 29 April, 7 PM: Concert by Edit Hülber at Wintteri (Viikaistenkatu 3). Edit performs on piano as her main instrument. Free entry.
  • Sat 2 May, 7 PM: J-P Hyytiä & Nuottistooriyhtye: Mies. Miksi? concert at Crusell Cultural Centre (Kullervontie 11). A pop-rock performance telling a tragicomic story through music and narration. Can be described as an audiobook with music or a play without acting. Tickets in advance: lippu.fi  (photo)
  • Sun 3 May, 3 PM: Andante Orchestra: After the Ball concert at Crusell Cultural Centre (Kullervontie 11). Tickets in advance from Foto-Mika (Alinenkatu 25), also sold before the concert. Ticket price €10.

May Day Eve and May Day Events

  • Thu 30 April, 10 AM–10 PM: Opening of Café Zaku’s summer café (Suukarintie 6). Live music and other program throughout the day. Open in May on Wed, Fri, and Sat from 10 AM to 9 PM.
  • Thu 30 April, 12–2 PM: May Day market at the Parish Centre (Koulukatu 6). Doughnuts and sima (traditional Finnish mead) for sale. Payment by cash or MobilePay.
  • Thu 30 April, 5:30–7:30 PM: Capping of “Pyhämaan Paula” at Telakanranta (Pyhämaanranta 37). Performer: troubadour Mikko Itäranta. Café Paula is selling coffee, ice cream, and grilled sausages.
  • Fri 1 May, from 1 PM: Pyhämaa Pyry May Day cycling event. Cycle from Pyhämaa fire station to Lyökki or vice versa. Coffee and juice served at Vintri beach.
  • Fri 1 May, 11 AM–1 PM: MLL May Day picnic at Myllymäki. A family picnic near the playground—bring your own snacks and a blanket.

Wellbeing and Exercise

  • Wed 29 April, 1–2 PM: Asahi at Seikowi hall (Vuorikatu 11). Suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The session can be done standing or seated and helps relax the body while improving neck and shoulder mobility, back health, and balance. Bring a water bottle and comfortable indoor shoes.
  • Wed 29 April, 6–8 PM: Pre-May Day party at Liikuntakeskus Ellen (Ainonkuja 5). Free event for everyone who enjoys dance workouts with good music. Register in advance with Johanna, tel. +358 50 564 3374.
  • Sun 3 May, 9 AM–5:30 PM: Isokari bird cruise. The trip circles Keskikallio’s guillemot island and continues to Isokari, including birdwatching, lunch, and a chance to visit the lighthouse. You may spot guillemots, razorbills, skuas, and other seabirds. Booking and more information on the Isokari website.
  • Sun 3 May, 11 AM–5 PM: Hike to Metsälehto sauna (Haimiontie 365). Open to all. Departure from the parking area next to Saarnisto school (Pajusuontie side) at 11 AM. This is also the last swimming event of the spring. Register in advance (Anita, tel. +358 40 081 0100) so organizers can prepare snacks and return transport.

  • Sun 3 May, 2:30–6:30 PM: Movement & Relaxation afternoon at Liikunta- ja hyvinvointikeskus Elleni (Ainonkuja 5). Includes two sessions suitable for beginners; you can join one or both.   • Sorvakko Disc Golf Course (Veneranta 4).
  • Hiunjärvi outdoor trail, starting point at Saarnisto school parking area (Pajusuontie).
  • Kasarminlahti trail, marked trail starts from the sports field parking area (Etelälinjakatu 2). An accessible section begins at Kasarminlahdentie 8. From the birdwatching tower, you can continue to a more demanding route toward the Kasarminlahti shelter or the Vionpuhti campfire site.
  • Pamprinniemi nature trail (Hauintie 259), located in Ketteli, Pyhämaa. This scenic trail is about 4 km long.
  • Oinassaari lean-to shelter (Oinassaarentie 166), a pleasant excursion destination for drivers, boaters, and cyclists, located in Korsaari about 18 km from Uusikaupunki town center toward Lepäinen.

  • Tue 28 April, 6–9 PM: Three Churches Tour – guided local heritage excursion. Organized by Uusikaupunki Tourist Guides, the trip visits Kalanti and Pyhämaa, including St. Olaf’s Church in Kalanti, the Sacrificial Church in Pyhämaa, and the New Church, where snacks are served. On the way back, a stop at Peuramaa farm to see fallow deer and alpacas. Departure from Uusikaupunki bus station at 6 PM. Price €25 (incl. coffee), payment in cash before departure. Guides: Mirkka Ali-Laurila and Päivi Sandell. Advance registration required here. The tour will be held in finnish.
  • Wed 29 April at Cinema Kuvala: 5:15 PM The Dudesons: Homecoming and 7 PM Michael. Tickets at www.kuvatahti.fi and at the door. (Alinenkatu 16)
  • Wed 29 April, 6 PM: Screening of I, Daniel Blake -the movie at Uusikaupunki Library (Alinenkatu 34). A moving drama directed by Ken Loach, following a middle-aged carpenter navigating the welfare system after falling ill. Free entry. Age rating: 7+.
