Event tips from 8th to 21st of September 2025

September brings fresh energy, basketball games will begin and there will be a season opening event in Kalanti station with drifting and old cars.  At Cultural Center Cruselli, audiences can also enjoy grand emotions, when Helena Lindgren and Jorma Uotinen perform together with Trio Avec. Art can still be experienced in many ways across the city through various exhibitions with visual artists. Our Museums, Wahlberg's House and Automobile Museum are still open.

For those seeking activity, options include nature paths, outdoor swimming or the swimming hall.

Korihait
Korihait will play four pre-season games before the Korisliiga season kicks off on October 3rd. Two of these will be played in front of the home crowd at Wintteri’s Uusikaupunki Arena (Pohjoistullitie 3). The first game takes place on Wednesday, September 10 at 7:30 pm, and the second on Friday, September 26 at 6:30 pm. The home crowd will be treated to excitement right from the very first pre-season game, as Korihait hosts last season’s quarterfinal opponent, Salon Vilpas, who went on to claim the Finnish Championship bronze. Vilpas is once again among the medal favorites this year.
 

rally
West Coast Ten Villages’ Rally brings together hobby vehicles – and, if desired, even ordinary “grocery-getters” – for a fun driving event on Saturday, September 13, 2025, starting at 11:00 am Tiilimäki Neste in Pori. The idea of the rally is simple and entertaining: participants tour the designated stop locations, enjoy refreshments, and collect stamps with their purchases. The more stamps you collect, the better your chances of winning great prizes.
In Uusikaupunki, the participants will stop at Cafe Zakun Ranta, so it’s a great opportunity to come and see the fantastic convoy of cars. The route also passes several other familiar stops, including Eurajoki Pub, Pyhäranta Kievari, and Laitila Shell. The day concludes at Nakkila Verstas, where the prize ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m., followed at 7:00 p.m. by the Verstas Goes Kustom Kulture event.

Participation fee is €20 per car, and only the first 30 registered teams will be admitted – so be quick!

drifting autot
The autumn season opening at Seo Kalanti Station (Vakkatie 1) will be held on Saturday, September 13th, from 10 am. to 1 pm. Nostalgic vintage cars will park in the station yard, and visitors will also have the chance to admire a real drifting car up close, brought by the local Lehmusvaara Drift Team.
The event also features Jumissa.com with their off-road vehicles. They have been organizing year-round off-road safaris for over 15 years. The safaris take place in Southwest Finland, in Uusikaupunki and Laitila, across more than 300 hectares of land along pre-arranged routes.
The PaTu Team moped club will also join the opening, showcasing their vintage mopeds in the station yard. For children, there will be a bouncy castle, and the café will serve drinks and tasty treats throughout the day.  Photo: RunOil Facebook

Santtioranta
The Santtioranta season closing party will be held on Saturday, September 13th, starting at 3 pm. The program for children includes a bouncy castle and face painting. Luca Sturniolo will perform from 4 to 7 pm., and Pamela & Hermes will wrap up the evening with their show starting at 7:15 pm. The summer will end with a firework display at 9 pm.

Carmeninae
On Sunday, September 14 at 3 pm, the Cancer Association’s charity concert will take place at Cultural Center Cruselli. The CARMENINAE women’s choir will take over the stage with their humorous performance HikiCiskot Show. The choir comes from Piikkiö and has already charmed audiences in several towns with their shows. Tickets cost 20 € and can be purchased in advance in Uusikaupunki at Ystäväntupa (Alinenkatu 26) and Kenkäkauppa Alina (Alinenkatu 36). Tickets are also available at Ystävänportti (Vihtorinkatu 1, Laitila).

Jorma ja Helena
On Friday, September 19th at 7 pm in Cultural Center Cruselli will perform Jorma Uotinen and Helena Lindgren with their songs of love. Jorma has a dark, velvety voice and charismatic unique dimension to the songs, conveying an experience that is powerful, yet sensitive. Helena Lindgren’s sensual voice adapts effortlessly to jazz, film music, tango, Latin rhythms, disco, and pop.
The theme of this new concert production is love in all its diversity: falling in love, the everyday life of love, the loss of love, longing both alone and together.
The concert also features Trio Avec, with Petri Ikkelä on accordion and bandoneon, Ilkka Joronen on piano, and Helena Plathan on cello. The performance lasts about 2 hours including an intermission.

Wahlberg’s House Museum (Ylinenkatu 11) is the main site of the Uusikaupunki Museum, located in the city’s grid-plan area. Fredrik Wahlberg, founder of the Uusikaupunki tobacco factory, had this impressive residence built for himself in the early 1870s. The rooms of the house have preserved their old decorative tiled stoves and skillful ceiling paintings, and in the salon even the original hand-painted wallpapers from over 150 years ago. The upper floor of the museum presents shipbuilding, ship ownership, and maritime trade. Sailors’ chests, souvenirs, ship paintings, and captains’ navigation instruments vividly illustrate this fascinating history. The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from noon to 3 pm.

The main exhibition of 2025 is titled “Among the First – Women of Uusikaupunki in a Man’s World.” The exhibition presents a total of 13 women who were pioneers in professions that were officially open only to men. Such professions long included, for example, organists and doctors. Many of these women also pursued hobbies that were not yet considered suitable for women, such as hunting or sailing. The exhibition is open until late March 2026.

automuseo
The Automobile Museum, located on Autotehtaankatu, is open daily from 11 am. to 5 pm. Across three halls, more than a hundred vehicles are on display – from classic cars to futuristic concept models, as well as motorcycles and even a couple of airplanes.
The place of honor belongs to the first Finnish car, the Korvensuu from 1913. The museum also showcases the very first Saab produced at the Uusikaupunki factory, completed on November 13, 1969. This Saab 96 was presented to President Urho Kekkonen and duly registered with the license plate EKA-96.
The collection also includes older Saabs manufactured in Trollhättan, Sweden, such as the first Saab 92 registered in Finland in 1950. Visitors can also explore the restoration workshop and the museum shop.

rauman taiteilijaseura
At the Cultural Center Cruselli, the Rauma Artists’ Association celebrates its 80th anniversary with an exhibition titled Continuum. Founded in 1945, Rauma Artists’ Association is a professional artists’ organization with the purpose of enriching and supporting local visual arts and culture. Its aim is to promote the status of artists and serve as a link between different art forms.
The participating artists have challenged themselves with broad and intriguing interpretations of the theme by reflecting on both the past and the future. The exhibition will showcase a wide range of works in painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
Cruselli is open Mon–Wed and Fri 10 am–4 pm, Thu 10 am–6 pm, and also during theatre performances. 
The exhibition is open until September 19th.

Anna-Milana   Riina Vehmassalo
At Gallery Art Lending Service Horisontti on Alinenkatu, visitors can explore the works of visual artist AnneMilana Aadanlahti and young artist Riina Vehmassalo throughout September.
The exhibition is open Wed–Fri 12:00–15:00 and on Saturdays 10:00–13:00.

At the same address you will also find Tupsula, a unique exhibition of thousands of colorful pompoms – a cheerful and playful experience that delights both children and handicraft enthusiasts.
Tupsula is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 13:00–17:00 and Saturdays 10:00–13:00.

Heli Jalava
You can also enjoy art at the Pakkahuone Café, open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. On display is Heli Jalava’s exhibition “Delightfully Silly.” The little girl in the paintings is named Hertta, accompanied by her friend, Hupsu the cat. Through the artworks, viewers can follow Hertta’s and Hupsu’s joyful adventures. The paintings are done in acrylic on canvas, inspired by everyday life, imagination, and sometimes simply a spontaneous idea.

At the Kalanti Library’s Raimo’s Chamber (Pankkitie 2), works by Mirja Aalto will be exhibited throughout September. 
The library is open Tuesdays 1–7 p.m. and Wed–Fri 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

tyttö hyppää narua
Runonkulma Gallery and Pikkukylän Puoti is located at the old wooden house (Ylinenkatu 38B) near the city center. It's open on Wednesdays 4 pm–7 pm and Saturdays 11 am–3 pm. Currently on display, there is Hannele Salmela’s exhibition “I Am That Bird,” open until September 20th. The gallery also features the Pikkukylän Puoti, which sells Finnish handicrafts, design, and art products.

zaku
Cafe Zaku’s Ranta (Suukarintie 6B) is open until the end of September on Wednesdays as a motorcycle café from 3 pm. to 9 pm. The place welcomes hobby cars, motorcyclists, and everyone else to spend the evening together. In addition to good food and drinks, you can enjoy a great atmosphere and good company. The café/bar is located in the yard of Voimala Zaku with beautiful sea views.

Public House Olkkari (Alinenkatu 24) live autumn season kicks off on Saturday, September 13th at 10 pm., when the acoustic duo Rane & Lepa takes of the stage and get the rock rolling. On Saturdays, Olkkari also hosts daytime bingo, with the theme on September 13th being Rubber Duck Bingo and on September 20th Funny Socks. Bingo starts at 2:30 pm.

After the summer season, karaoke nights return to Restaurant PikkuWiku (Aittaranta 6) every Saturday starting at 10 pm.

Isokari
Isokari is a large island in the Bothnian Sea, home to a lighthouse built in 1833 that still guides seafarers today. During the summer season, this lighthouse island offers visitors unforgettable experiences. The lighthouse, renovated in 2020, can be visited on guided tours – and to enjoy the breathtaking views, one must climb nearly 200 steps.
Day cruises to Isokari lighthouse island are available from Friday to Sunday in September. The journey begins at 10:30 am. aboarding M/S Kerttu from behind the Pakkahuone Guest Harbour (address: Pakkahuoneenkuja 2), returning to the same place at 5:30 pm. 
Cruises run until September 14th.
Tickets: €88 for adults, €35 for children aged 4–12.

The swimming hall (Pohjoistullitie 3) is open:

  • Tue 6:00–21:30

  • Sun 12:00–17:30

The swimming time is limited to 2 hours. Ticket sales end one hour before closing time, and the pool area closes 30 minutes before the swimming hall’s closing time.

höyry
Saunalaituri Höyry (Pilssitie 23) is located in the historic Janhuanniemi area by the sea. Höyry is a place where the rush of everyday life fades away, offering peaceful moments close to nature and water, leaving you with a sense of wellbeing.

Haimio
At the Haimio public sauna (Haimiontie 351), you can swim daily until the end of September. The public sauna is open to everyone and is located by the public beach. The first visitor heats the sauna.
The sauna is managed and maintained by Jokisivu Youth Association. It has been fully renovated and renewed, and you can support this volunteer-driven project with an optional sauna fee. Instructions are available at the sauna.

metsälehto
The Metsälehto sauna swims (Haimiontie 365), open to everyone, take place on Tuesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm until the end of September. Metsälehto sauna is located on the shore of a freshwater basin. The beach has a good pier with stairs leading into the water, but you can also enter directly from the shore if you prefer. The water is shallow near the pier, making it well suited for children as well. Heating and closing routines for the sauna are managed in turns by volunteers.

pamprinniemi
You can enjoy nature, for example, along the Pamprinniemi nature trail in Pyhämaa. The trail introduces visitors to the area’s stunning maritime nature as well as magnificent old pine trees. The birdlife in the area is also diverse. Along the trail, the parish has placed Bible-themed boards, with themes that change annually. At the tip of the peninsula stands a large wooden cross, around which the parish usually organizes the opening ceremony of the nature trail in early June.

hiujärvi
Located near the town center, Lake Hiunjärvi – also known as a bird lake – features nature trails and a lean-to shelter. Hiunjärvi is a regionally significant bird lake, home to a remarkably diverse bird population considering its size. Thanks to its location, the lake has been widely used for educational and recreational purposes. A marked nature trail runs through the area, with a lean-to shelter and a birdwatching tower along the way.

kasarminlahti
You can access the accessible outdoor trail and birdwatching platform at Kasarminlahti starting, for example, from the sports field parking area. A lean-to shelter can also be found nearby. The accessible nature trail provides a safe environment to experience the forest and waterside while observing nature. The Kasarminlahti area is rich in birdlife and also serves as a resting place for migratory birds. The accessible route and birdwatching platform serve a wide range of visitors. In addition to people with reduced mobility and the elderly, the trail is also easy for families with children in strollers.

Another pleasant excursion destination is the Oinassaari lean-to in Korsaari, which is suitable for visitors arriving by car, boat, or even bicycle (for those in good condition). The distance from Uusikaupunki city center towards Lepäinen is about 18 kilometers. Pack something in your backpack and off you go!

Jäähalli
In the Uusikaupunki Ice Hall there are public skating sessions on Sundays from 10 to 11 am, but the game schedules may cause changes. Public skating is an ice time intended for all skaters. The fee is 2 € per person.
