A Maritime Wooden House Idyll - Uusikaupunki at the Travel Fair in Helsinki
Northern Europe’s largest travel industry event, the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, will be held on January 16–19, 2025, at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. Visit Uusikaupunki will participate in the event as part of the shared booth titled Finnish Archipelago. Joining Uusikaupunki at the booth are Naantali, Parainen, Kaarina, Åland, Brändö, Taivassalo, Kustavi, and Vehmaa. On the other side of the booth, you’ll also find Rauma, Pori, and Eurajoki.
The unique town of Uusikaupunki surprises visitors with its diverse offerings. Charming wooden house neighborhoods, fascinating attractions and events, versatile recreational opportunities, a rich cultural scene, local delicacies, welcoming shops, and stunning maritime and nature destinations invite visitors to enjoy individual experiences year-round.
The brand-new Choose Uusikaupunki 2025 brochure will make its debut at the fair. The guide includes extensive information on the town’s attractions, activities, maritime and nature destinations, dining options, accommodations, shopping opportunities, and other services. A digital version of the brochure will also be available on the website visituusikaupunki.fi. Additionally, the fun and colorful Children’s Uusikaupunki brochure, featuring the best tips for kids and families, will be distributed at the fair, as Tourism Designer Irmeli Laiho-Andersson shares.
The booth’s public competition highlights the maritime destinations of the shared booth participants, allowing visitors to choose their favorites. Prizes include hotel stays, festival tickets, cruise packages, and travel gift cards. The competition is conducted online, and visitors can participate using their own smart devices or devices provided at the booth. A shared screen at the booth will showcase introduction videos from all participating municipalities and cities.
Visitors can also express their interest in joining the Archipelago Tourism Developers community network, which brings together consumers, tourism professionals, and entrepreneurs interested in archipelago tourism. Members of this community can participate in testing new ideas and provide valuable feedback for developing tourism experiences and services.
- "The fair is sure to give you many great reasons to visit Uusikaupunki. A tip for boaters and campers: all overnight guests at the Pakkahuone guest harbor and Santtioranta Camping have a chance to win €2,000 tax-free. Be sure to check the competition rules on the companies’ websites," Laiho-Andersson advises.
On Thursday, January 16, the fair is open exclusively to travel industry professionals. For the general public, the fair will be open on Friday, January 17, from 10 AM to 7 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday, January 18–19, from 10 AM to 6 PM.
