Fishing Permits in Uusikaupunki

On waters owned by the City of Uusikaupunki, angling with a simple rod and line and ice fishing are allowed free of charge. Lure fishing with one rod requires the national fisheries management fee. Trap fishing and trolling with more than one rod require both the national fisheries management fee and permission from the water area owner.

Recreational fishing permits issued for the city’s waters

Net fishing permit – €6 per net tag
One person may purchase a maximum of 8 net tags. Persons over 65 receive one net tag free of charge. One tag allows the use of one net (3 × 30 m).

General fishing permit – €6 per person
Allows the following gear:

  • Longline (max. 100 hooks per line)
  • Fish traps (max. 5)
  • Hook fishing with 10 hooks (bait hooks, strike hooks)
  • Trolling and whitefish rod fishing with more than one rod (€6 per additional rod)

Crayfishing (for personal use only) – €35 / 10 traps / person

All gear must be marked in accordance with the Fishing Act, with a permit tag plus the fisher’s name and contact details. The tag must be attached to the marker buoy or the outermost buoy of a net series. One tag is required per five strike or bait hooks.

On city-owned waters, anyone may angle, ice fish and jig for Baltic herring free of charge, regardless of place of residence, and may also cast with a lure (national fisheries management fee required). For other types of fishing, a city permit and the national fisheries management fee (ages 18–69) are required.

National Fisheries Management Fee

In 2026, the fisheries management fee must be paid if you are aged 18–66 and fish with lures or traps or go crayfishing. The fee is not required if you only angle, ice fish or jig for Baltic herring, or if you are under 18 or 67 or older.

The fee entitles you to fish with one lure in most of Finland, though sometimes a separate permit from the water owner is also required. The fee is personal and must be paid even when fishing in your own waters.

Fisheries management fees 2026:
€47 / calendar year
€16 / 7 days
€6 / day

Fishers who pay the fee are registered in the fisheries management register. Name, contact details and date of birth are collected for fishery management purposes.
