Visit Uusikaupunki participates in the Matka Fair January 18 to 21, 2024
Northern Europe's largest tourism event, the Matkamessut (Travel Fair), will be held from January 18 to 21, 2024, at the Helsinki Exhibition Centre. Visit Uusikaupunki will be participating in the fair with its own stand, located in the Finland Archipelago joint exhibition area. The joint exhibition area also includes Turku, Naantali, Salo, Parainen, Kaarina, Rauma, Pori, Åland Islands, Taivassalo, Kustavi, and Brändö. The stand has also attracted participation from local businesses. From Uusikaupunki, there are as many as four operators with their own stands in the joint area; Pinetree Cottages, Pakkahuone Guest Harbor & Santtioranta Camping, Uudenkaupungin Vanhat Talot (Old Houses of Uusikaupunki) Association, and Sektoriloisto/Isokari Lighthouse Island.
Unique Uusikaupunki surprises visitors with its diverse offerings. Charming wooden house blocks, interesting sights and events, a variety of recreational activities, a rich cultural scene, local delicacies, welcoming shops, and magnificent sea and nature destinations attract and offer guests unique experiences throughout the year.
The brand-new 'Choose Uusikaupunki 2024' brochure will be distributed first at the fair. The guide contains various information about sights and activities in Uusikaupunki, sea and nature destinations, sports and recreational opportunities, dining options, accommodations, shopping opportunities, and many other important services. The brochure's online version can be read on the visituusikaupunki.fi website. A fun and colorful 'Children's Uusikaupunki' brochure will also be available. This brochure presents the best tips for children and families.
Periodically, there will also be programming at the stand. On Saturday, January 20, we will hear from the high-quality clarinetists of the Crusell Music Week. This year's Crusell Week is being held from July 22 to 28 in Uusikaupunki, and the theme is 'Together'.
-“Visitors can also drop by the local producers' joint archipelago store at our stand. Tastings are available, and local food products can be purchased to take home. Represented from Uusikaupunki in the store are Pooki's delicacy factory, Ugin Marenki (Ugi's meringue), and Vihreä Härkä (Green Bull) with its broad bean products”, says Tourism Designer Irmeli Laiho-Andersson.
In Uusikaupunki's light-hearted public competition, the main prize is an accommodation and dining package in Uusikaupunki. The competition is conducted online. In addition to using your own smart device, you can also respond using the touch screen available at the stand. The screen is also used to showcase Uusikaupunki videos, with the newest videos 'A Summer Day in Uusikaupunki' and 'Velhovesi Ring Road' filmed last summer. -“You will definitely find many good reasons to visit Uusikaupunki at the fair. As a tip for boaters and camping travelers, anyone staying at Pakkahuone Guest Harbor or Santtioranta Camping has a chance to win 10,000 euros in cash. Be sure to check the competition conditions on the companies' websites”, hints Laiho-Andersson.
On Thursday, January 18, the fair is open only to tourism professionals. The fair is open to the public on Friday, January 19, Saturday, January 20, and Sunday, January 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Welcome to explore the interesting and diverse offerings of Uusikaupunki and the Finnish Archipelago at stand 6n2!
