Framing the work is organ music suited to the Good Friday theme, performed by Kari Vuola. Performers in the evening concert include the Cantilona Choir, conducted by Hanna Pishro; Henna-Mari Karlsson (piano); Kari Vuola (organ); Ari Stenman (baritone), and Nina Koskela as the narrator. A Peek into the Museums

Wahlberg’s Museum House (Ylinenkatu 11)  is located in the grid-plan town centre, surrounded by a charming wooden house district. The founder of Uusikaupunki’s tobacco factory, Fredrik Wahlberg, built this impressive residence for himself in the early 1870s. Upstairs in the museum, visitors can explore shipbuilding, outfitting, and maritime trade. Sailors’ chests, souvenirs, ship paintings, and a captain’s navigation instruments offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s rich maritime history. Younger visitors can also play detective in the museum and complete fun exhibition-related tasks. During Easter week, you can discover maritime history and bourgeois life from Tuesday to Thursday, between 12 PM and 3 PM.

automuseo

Located next to the car factory, the Uusikaupunki Automobile Museum (Autotehtaankatu 11) is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM. Across three exhibition halls, you’ll find over a hundred vehicles, mopeds, and motorcycles – as well as an airplane. A place of honour is given to the first Finnish car manufactured in Mynämäki, the Korvensuu from 1913. The museum also features the first Saab car produced at the Uusikaupunki factory in 1969, a Saab 96 (registration number EKA-96), which was presented to President Urho Kekkonen.
