Tips what to see and do in Uusikaupunki from July 31 till August 6
August is starting this week, but don't worry, there is still summer and events left. The list below contains tips on the week's events. Check the tips and come along!
Children's play day is at hand for the last time Mon 31.7.
at Santtionranta Camping. Plays are going on from 2pm - till 6pm. Let´s have fun!
Come and join to see some beautiful local gardens. Afternoon coffee included, too. Some of the homeowners will also be available to tell you about the history of their house and garden. Garden tour available on Tuesday 1.8. at 3 pm–5 pm. Tickets: https://fi.doerz.com/uusikaupunki/pihat-ja-puutalot
At Pakkahuone Guest Harbour there is the Evening Market on Wednesday from 4 pm till 8 pm. There you can e.g. sell your own items at flee market and at the same listen to live music, this time performing Pasi and Mäikkä.
Action Thursday on 3.8. takes you on The Fairytale Trail. You walk in the happy company of Myllymuori along the courtyard street of Alisenkatu. A fabulous fairy tale program for the whole family.The event is free of charge for participants. The trail starts at Peace Park, (Rauhanpuisto) Alinenkatu 32, at 4pm.
On Friday at Market place Männäinen you can do market shopping as well listen live music by Duo Samuli and Sauli.
On Saturday continues the themed market event called Tul Toril, this time 5.8. at 10am-2pm with international music and dance.
In addition to delicious food, you can also enjoy live music in restaurants. Bistro Bay's terrace is entertained by Relax Corner on Wednesday, Flora and the Weekend Fathers on Friday and Kill &; Valmer on Saturday. Wednesday's live music at Captain's Makasiini will be provided by Chris &; Laurell Acoustic Rock Duo, on Thursday by Kalle and Susse, on Friday by Tero Vaara and on Saturday by Nutshell Duo. Restaurant Kirsta offers bingo on Fridays, and after bingo the evening continues with Karaoke. Eeli Hallikai will be heard at Pakkahuone Terrace after work. Santtioranta Camping will sing singing songs together on Saturday under the direction of Rami Rafael.
Day at sea is an awesome way to spend holiday. On Mondays and Tuesdays, cruises head to the southernmost destination of the Bothnian Sea National Park, Katanpää fortress island. The magnificent Isokari lighthouse island is visited weekly, from Wednesday to Sunday. On Friday evenings, you can also take part in a two-hour guided sighseeing cruise to experience summer Uusikaupunki from the sea. Cruises can be booked here: Merikauppa Isokari
The Wahlberg Museum has an interesting exhibition "Captains – multi-talented at sea and on land". The exhibition delves into the lives of eight captains both in their hometown and far out at sea. The summer museums of the Uusikaupunki Museum, the Pilot Museum in Vallimäki, which presents the work of pilots, and the Seaman's Home Museum on the edge of Myllymäki, which introduces the life of a sailor's family, are open daily from 12 noon to 3 pm, and admission to the small museums is free.
And do not forget to visit Bonk museum, those magnificent creations make you smile! And naturally our many galleries like Culture Center Crusell, Gallery Horisontti, Gallery Runonkulma, Tupsula are must to see. And how about Automuseo(Car museum), have you been there? The exhibition at the Uusikaupunki Maritime Center presents a wide range of maritime history from private collections. The permanent exhibition includes several old boat engines, a large scale model of the sailing ship Warma from Uusikaupunki, other scale models and ship paintings. Entrance to the Maritime Center is free.
If you are an outdoor lover, we have a lot to offer. You can exercise on the golf course, mountain biking runs, beaches, nature and fitness trails, the Velhovesi Ring Road, outdoor basketball or Padel courts, the Skatepark, running stairs and disc golf courses. A variety of outdoor gymnastics are also available.
